John Gattorna
Global Supply Chain Thought Leader and Author
Gattorna Alignment

John Gattorna has spent a lifetime working in and around enterprise supply chains, in many different capacities – line executive, researcher, consultant/adviser, teacher, mentor and author. He is passionate about the subject – some might say obsessive. For the last four decades John has been working with major blue chip corporations around the world to take his proprietary Dynamic Alignment model from the conceptual stage to a finer level of granularity. Companies such as Unilever; Roche Pharma, Schneider Electric and Kuehne & Nagel have all adopted his model. Transformation in these and other companies has been a complex task, involving learning about, and combining, several disparate disciplines – customer behaviour; internal cultural capability of the enterprise; leadership styles; and of course the operational aspects of corporate logistics networks. The unique quality about John’s perspective is that he presents a multi-disciplinary whole-of-business approach to the design and management of enterprise supply chains. Each year, John and his business partner, Deborah Ellis present a series of SC ‘thought leadership’ briefings around the world to invited audiences, and these have become very popular with top executives. In 2020, John has been particularly busy, advising companies on how to handle the worst effects of Covid-19, and how to prepare for the likely operating environment beyond Covid. In 2018, in recognition for his pioneering work, John was awarded the CSCMP’s Distinguished Service Award, and inducted into the CSCMP Hall of Fame in the US.
